Know who’s most likely to fall in the next four weeks.
In 644 residents across several senior living and post-acute organizations, the OneStep Fall Risk Assessment sorted residents into tiers with clearly different short-term fall risk.
Most residents in senior living carry some fall risk, so “at risk” doesn’t tell your team where to start. This study looked at how quickly residents had a first fall after their OneStep Fall Risk Assessment. Risk rose with every tier, and the Very High group pulled away from the rest almost immediately.
- 644 residents across several organizations and care settings
- 26% of Very High–risk residents had a first fall within 28 days
- About 2× the 28-day risk of the High tier, and about 4× the Medium tier
What’s inside:
- 28-day first-fall risk for each tier: Low, Medium, High and Very High
- How fast falls built up in each tier over the first weeks after assessment
- What the FRA measures: gait captured on a smartphone, plus Timed Up and Go, Sit-to-Stand, fear of falling and fall history
- How operators can use the tiers to put limited fall-prevention resources where they matter most
- The study’s limitations and what the OneStep Research Team is studying next
