Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) just got more flexible. As of January 1, 2026, two new RTM codes are officially in effect — giving clinicians more ways to get reimbursed for the care they’re already providing.
If you're using OneStep to collect meaningful data from patients in real life, these changes matter. Here's what’s new, why it’s important, and how OneStep can help.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) introduced two new RTM codes that expand how and when providers can bill for remote monitoring and patient engagement. The goal is simple: make reimbursement more accessible for those patients with shorter term needs and reduced levels of engagement.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
This code allows reimbursement when a patient provides 2 to 15 days of data within a 30 day cycle.
This code reimburses for 10 to 19 minutes of clinician time spent reviewing RTM data and completing one interactive communication (like a call, video, or secure message).
Together, these new codes provide additional opportunities for more frequent, accurate, and realistic reimbursements for the care you are providing.
For a complete breakdown of all current RTM codes, including reimbursement estimates and documentation requirements, download our updated resources here.
RTM billing comes with specific requirements around data collection and provider involvement. OneStep was built with those workflows in mind. Our platform:
OneStep is not a billing service and we don’t submit claims. However, we are here to support what’s behind them. From data collection to documentation, we make it easy to meet the requirements for RTM billing and show the value of the care you're delivering.
If you have questions about the new codes or how to apply them using OneStep, our team is ready to help.

The 2026 RTM updates aren’t just policy changes. They’re a chance to make care more connected, more measurable, and more sustainable, both clinically and financially.
At OneStep, we believe every step tells a story. Now, more of those stories are reimbursable. Let’s make them count.
