My Experience with OneStep
Written by Charles Greer
My name is Charles Greer, and I’m 84 years old. I had both knees replaced in 2020 and two major back surgeries. Due to several years of severe back pain I had walked very little for about a year and a half before the surgeries. When I started PT after these surgeries I found that the geometry of my lower body had been changed but the operations and the muscles in my glutes, hips, legs and calves had atrophied. I was unable to walk any distance at all without a walker, was very shaky and unstable and my stride was jerky and uneven.
I forced myself to start walking every day....a few hundred yards at first, then a half mile and now sometimes a mile. I started with a walker, went to a cane and a staff and now can walk without support. Early in this program I ran across OneStep and downloaded the app. I've found the app to be very, very useful. The analysis helps me to track the progress I'm making and trying to improve my scores motivates me to keep trying for more. The categories are well chosen and the app functions perfectly.
I'm 84 and am finding it quite difficult to build muscle and add strength to my old body at this point. I am doing all the right things and making progress though and OneStep is helping to keep me moving.
